Saina Nehwal, 20-year-old World No. 6 from India picked her 2nd Super Series title win in the Singapore Super Series badminton championship final on Sunday. For the record, Saina won the Indonesian Super Series to pick her maiden title at this level in June 2009 and is the only Indian woman ever to win two Super Series titles. India’s chief national coach and Saina’s mentor, Pullela Gopi Chand, reminds that the Singapore Super Series win is really significant given the fact that she beat the world champion and top-seed Lu Lan in the semi-final on way to this title-win. Saina Nehwal Currently ranked number 6 in the world by Badminton World federation, Saina is the first Indian woman to reach the singles quarterfinals at the Olympics and the first Indian to win the World Junior Badminton Championships. Saina Nehwal scripted history on June 21, 2009, becoming the first Indian to win a Super Series tournament after clinching the Indonesia Open with a stunning victory over higher-ranked Chinese Lin Wang in Jakarta. Her highest career ranking is 5. She is first Indian woman to win the Indonesian Open Super Series.
